326. White pepper powder 

  1. White pepper powder shall be the powder obtained by grinding the dried, mature ripe fruit of Piper nigrum from which the outer coating of the fruit has been removed.
  2. White pepper powder
    • shall not contain more than
      • 12.5 per cent of water;
      • 3.5 per cent of total ash;
      • 0.3 per cent of ash insoluble in dilute hydrochloric acid; and
      • 5 per cent of crude fibre; and
    • shall contain not less than
      • 7 per cent of non-volatile ether extract;

      • 0.7 per cent volume per weight of volatile essential oil.
